The company ''ZAS'' - Factory of Architectural Glass was based for industrial production of glass units that perform to modern requests of heat insulating building technologies in the territory of Russia under active participation one of the largest research institutes in the world - State optical institute by S.I.Vavilov. The production is carried out with the equipment developed by American firm "Sun Coating Inc.", being the conventional leader in production of specialized equipment for vacuum deposition of coatings on large-scale glass for mass production. The main raw material -float glass - is delivered by the largest manufactory of glass in Russia - the company "The Bohr Glass Factory".

The industrial vacuum line in continuous operation is the only one in Northwest region with productivity of 1,5 million sq. m. of a glass per one year - the largest in Russia. The factory also has its own line of manufacturing of double-glazing units with a high-precision computer-controlled glass cutting line.

GLASS WITH COATINGS

Heat insulation coating (low "E") glass

Heat insolating (low "E) glass was developed to reduce loss of heat. Usage of double glazing units with coated glass will allow heating energy consumption to be 30-50% less. The heat-insulating properties of glass is provided with deposition low "E" coating on its surface.

Solar control coating

The coatings are expected to be used for inner space of buildings protecting against overheating by means of solar radiation transmission control.. The transmission covers 10%-70% range. The glass being offered allow to realize any architectural design.

Decorative coating

The deposition of decorative coating allows to receive coloured glass surface of any tint from light-blue up to red, golden, bronze, steel etc. for reaching of the necessary architectural effect Our new technological process ensures advantages of deposited coatings in quality (in comparison with color glass painted in mass), as well as in long life (in comparison with colour flexible films). The glass with such coatings have large popularity in modern buildings industry, providing broad possibilities in the field of architecture design. Having been used in double glazing units they will perfectly decorate a facade of any building -office centers, banks, hotels, auto showrooms and so on. The glass with decorative coating also can be used in automobile industry, for internal decorating work and in furniture production.

The use of decorative coating glass in double glazing units allows to increase esthetic performances of windows due to great colour variety. The facade having been made this way will give any building a unique style.

Glass with selective coatings

For growing of plants it is necessary to provide certain conditions, including selective transmission of a light radiation in the certain range of the spectrum. Use of the coatings in greenhouses and flower gardens allows to realize optimum conditions for growth of plants.

Another sphere of application of glass with such kind of coatings is the glass units for museum and exhibition halls, and also for picture, sculpture, mosaic, panorama protecting. In this case glare resistant glass with achromatic antireflecting coatings should be used for protecting of antiques from ultra-violet and infrared radiation. It will be able to improve quality of valuable art pieces storage and to prolong life without any restoring.

Specification requests to performance of coatings is given by the customer. The glass with such kind of coatings is our "know-how" with State optical institute by S.I.Vavilov.

Mirror coatings

The mirror glass is widely used for decoration of interior of various buildings. The broad colour range of our production will ensure you any design solution and will give unique appearance to lodging . One more sphere of items from mirror glass is the production of furniture.

The mirrors produced by the company "ZAS", meet the European standards, have high operational performances. The technology of their manufacturing assumes deposition of a special high-strength protecting coating.

Double glazing units

The company "ZAS" makes single-chamber and two-chamber glass-units using glass with coatings of any kind the Customer likes In addition filling of internal space of a glass-unit with inert gas increases qualitative performances of heat and sound insulation. Production of double glazing units is carried out with application of high-quality furnishing materials.

Productivity of line is 0,7 million Sq.ì. unit of glass per year that allows to fulfill various large scale orders in extremely short terms. All the elements of both lines (deposition of coating and production double glazing units) correspond to the safety and ecological standards.

All production is checked by monitoring in line and is confirmed by laboratory researches and tests at State optical institute by S.I.Vavilova. The final certification is planned in August 1999.

The brief description of technological process:

The glass, loaded in the enter chamber, is automatically passed through components of the line thus fulfilling all the stages of the technological process:

  1. Wash stage where the glass is prepared for feeding vacuum chambers to deposite a coating
  2. The system of loadlocks. To maintain the isolation from atmosphere the glass passes through the lock , hold and buffer chambers to the vacuum coat zones.
  3. The stage of coating deposition. During the bombardment process of a target with working gas high energy ions sputtering of its material is realized. Then sputtered particles deposit onto a glass surface to create required chemical and stechiometrical composition thin coat film. The films or their combination form coating with required optical and operational properties. A lot of substances can be sputtered, for instance titanium, silver, stainless steel or any other conductive materials or compounds.
  4. Stage of optical measurements. The measurement of optical performance of glass with deposited coating for getting exact characteristics of process is made. Required light transmission and reflection characteristics in various spectral ranges and heat insulation properties glass units can be provided.
  5. Stage of quality control. After passing through the exit system loadlocks the glass feeds a cabin of technical monitoring for checking its quality.
